This is an example of a close up taken from the movie 'The Notebook'. This close up shows the woman's facial expression clearly, this helps the audience understand how she is feeling and makes the audience feel more involved. In this scene the close up is cleverly used to draw attention to the fact the the character in the GIF is upset. This is not only important when the audience comes to understanding the character its also important as it shows the narrative. In the close up the character is placed at the side of the shot rather than conventionally in the middle, this suggests that the character is unbalanced and is not in control of the situation she is in.
Long Shot
This is an example of a long shot which is also taken from the film 'The Notebook'. The audience can clearly see both characters featured in the shot and can also see the surround area. This is important as the audience can see that, although they are in a empty street, the atmosphere is still good and they are not in a bad situation (conventually when a character/s are in a desolate place they are usually in danger or lost etc). This is important because it highlights how comfortable both characters are with each other, this is vital in the beginning of the film as it foreshadows the narrative. The long shot also conveys the relationship the characters have with each other. It also highlights that fact that they're in a good relationship and that they are happy/comfortable with one another.
This is the opening scenes taken from the film 'The Notebook'. This short clip features a lot of long shots and extreme long shots. This is used to introduce the viewer to the setting, in this instance it shows that the film is set somewhere in the countryside. The setting is peaceful and pretty with the sun rising. The red/orange colour of the sun rising suggests passion and romance, this gets the audience thinking about the narrative of the film. In this clip it features a man rowing a boat trough the river, this also foreshadows the narrative. In the clip there is also a shot of the house, the audience immediately wonder whose house it is and who lives there. It also shows that the films setting will be either the same house or a similar one. This opening scene foreshadows what the narative of the film is effectivly and gets the audience thinking, it also introduces the setting to the audience.
